This room must support sleep first, then identity, creativity, and calm — without becoming cluttered or overstimulating.

1. Room Purpose & Design Intent

Design Philosophy
This bedroom is designed to:

  • Grow with her (preteen → teen)

  • Encourage tidiness without rigidity

  • Balance joy with calm

This is not a workspace and not a playroom.

2. ZONING & FLOW (FOUNDATIONAL)

  • Mattress protector (breathable)

  • Headboard (upholstered or wood)

Bedding (Rotation Sets)

  • Fitted sheets (2–3 sets)

  • Flat sheet (if used)

  • Duvet or comforter

  • Duvet covers (2 for rotation)

  • Sleeping pillows (personalized)

  • Decorative pillows (2–4 max)

  • Throw blanket at foot of bed

Comfort Additions

  • Weighted blanket or lap blanket (optional)

  • Bedside rug or runner

4. BEDSIDE ZONES (LEFT & RIGHT)

Furniture

  • Nightstand(s) with drawer(s)

  • Optional floating shelf (if tight on space)

5. CLOTHING & STORAGE ZONE

  • Closet system (shelves + hanging)

  • Laundry hamper (lidded or fabric)

  • Full-length mirror

Organization

  • Drawer dividers

  • Closet bins (labeled)

  • Seasonal clothing bin

  • Hooks for frequently worn items

  • Jewelry organizer (drawer or wall-mounted)

6. CREATIVE / QUIET ACTIVITY ZONE

(Optional but strongly recommended)

  • Comfortable chair

  • Desk lamp (warm + task lighting)

Supplies Storage

  • Drawer or bin for:

    • Art supplies

    • Stationery

  • Pegboard or pinboard (controlled size)

This zone supports expression without taking over the room.

7. READING / WIND-DOWN ZONE

Furniture

  • Lounge chair, floor chair, or pouf

  • Small side table

  • Soft throw blanket

Accessories

  • Book basket or small shelf

  • Clip-on reading light

  • Floor cushion(s)

This zone complements the separate book nook, not replaces it.

8. LIGHTING (SLEEP-FIRST, JOY-SECOND)

  • Bedside lamps

  • Desk lamp (if applicable)

  • Fairy lights or pebble lights (required):

    • Headboard outline
